What We Do

Since our creation in May of 2025, the Friends of Waxhaw Parks & Trails partners with the Town of Waxhaw Parks & Recreation Department to provide recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities that promote a healthy lifestyle for the entire community.

Our Mission

To champion, enhance, and support Waxhaw’s parks, trails, and open space through community partnerships, volunteerism, fundraising, and educational opportunities that promote connectivity, accessibility, sustainability, and a shared love of nature and history.

What We’ve Achieved

  • Formal creation of Friends of Waxhaw Parks & Trail

  • Election of Community Board Members

  • Written By-Laws established and Board of Directors nominated

  • First official meeting May 28th, 2025

  • Defined our Mission, Vision and Values

  • Refined business and work plan for 2025 and beyond

  • Achieved 501c3 Charitable Organization status with Federal Employer Identification #39-4188396

  • Networked with other Town of Waxhaw affiliations

  • Reviewed Town of Waxhaw Master Plans

  • Reviewed Greenway Feasibility Studies & Pedestrian Plan Overviews

  • Launched website and design

  • Established a Project list and timelines that align with our defined Mission, Vision and Values

  • Planned and executed our first community involvement activities in Fall 2025 & Spring 2026
